Supplemental Course Functions
Syllabus
This section will provide information on the readings, assignments, deadlines and other requirements for the course.
Pre-Test
The menu pre-test is an exercise that is used to determine your prior knowledge of the course material. The pre-test is often used to create a custom lesson plan based on your score. The pre-test is accessed via the course main menu and is listed as a hyperlink. Clicking the pre-test hyperlink will give you entry into the actual test. For multiple choice and true/false questions, you can select your answer by clicking the radio button located to the left of each choice. For 'fill-in-the-blank' questions, you will be able to type in your response within a text field. Once you have provided your answer, click on the "Next Question" button. After answering and reviewing (optional) all of the questions, click on the "Submit for Grade" button.
Mastery Test
The menu mastery test or post-test is a graded exercise that is taken after the completion of the course lessons. Your performance on this test will determine your mastery of the course material and your grade will be stored in the course gradebook. The mastery test is accessed via the course main menu and is listed as a hyperlink. Clicking the mastery test hyperlink will give you entry into the actual test. For multiple choice and true/false questions, you can select your answer by clicking the radio button located to the left of each choice. For 'fill-in-the-blank' questions, you will be able to type in your response within a text field. Once you have provided your answer, click on the "Next Question" button. After you have answered all the questions and you have reviewed (optional) your responses, click on the "Submit for Grade" button. You may then go to the "Gradebook" section to review your test grades, questions and answers.
Gradebook
The gradebook will contain a history of all the tests you have taken and your grades for each of them. In the "Attendance" section, you will also be able to identify the total number of pages within the course and how many of them you have visited.
In the "Learning Objectives" section, you may view how well you are progressing with the course objectives.
Glossary
A course may also contain a glossary of related terms or supplementary material. This information is accessible through links within the pages of the lesson and/or through the "Glossary" button located on the course main menu or lesson menu. The glossary opens up in a new browser window. At the bottom of the glossary frame, you can search for a particular entry by typing it in the search box and clicking the "Search" button. If you wish to see all of the available glossary entries for this course, leave the search box empty and click on the "Search" button. Close the glossary window to go back to the course.
References
The references section will provide you with a list of resources related to the course. If the reference is a web site, you will also be provided with a hyperlink that will open up a new browser window and take you directly to that site. Close the window to return to the course.
